Using heat is a simple, effective and long established way to relive the symptoms of dry eyes and blepharitis.
Warm compresses help by loosening debris and oil build-up on the eyelid margins, which is especially helpful in managing blepharitis.
At the same time, the heat stimulates the meibomian glands (located in the eyelids) to release more natural oils into the tears. This improves tear quality and reduces evaporation, providing relief from dry eye symptoms.
Applying a warm compress for 10 minutes daily can soothe irritation, reduce inflammation, and support overall eye comfort when used consistently as part of a regular eye care routine.

Instant heat masks
The Sutton Eyecare instant heat mask uses self-heating technology that warms up the mask as soon as you open the pouch. The active natural ingredients heat up the mask to >40°C and the soothing warmth lasts up to 20 minutes.
The ingredients of the mask include lutein. Well-known as a beneficial ingredient for the eyes, but it is also thought to be good for the skin.
They are perfect for single use in practice when heat is needed or for patients to use travelling and on-the-go, especially when a microwave is unavailable.
To use, simply open the pouch, remove the eye mask and it will immediately start to warm up. Peeling away the upper crepe layer creates two ear loops so the mask can be comfortably worn. Then sit back and relax for 15-20 minutes. By melting the oily secretions and then massaging the meibomian glands, the quality of the tears can be enhanced.
